The US Republican Party is pursuing a bill to abolish vaccination checks for all foreign travelers. The Biden administration continues to advocate strict vaccination control at the border.
A bill that would immediately repeal mandatory vaccination of foreign incoming travelers has already passed the Republican-controlled House of Representatives and will now be introduced in the Senate.
The progressive bill will not only end the current strict requirements for foreigners, but will also prevent the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from introducing a similar mandate for vaccination against COVID-19 in the future.
Today, the United States is the only country in the world that requires foreign travelers to confirm at least two injections with an approved vaccine.
Despite the protests of the tourism industry and the worldwide negative attitude towards the extension of coronavirus bans and restrictions, the Biden administration still supports the idea of vaccination, despite the fact that the president himself declared victory over the pandemic.
The current regulations were designed to promote “the safe resumption of travel around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic,” they replaced the general ban on non-citizens entering the United States.
The U.S. Tourism Association welcomed the passage of the permissive bill in the House of Representatives, saying it was time to quickly end the “outdated” policy.
“The need for this requirement has long passed, and we appreciate the bipartisan actions of the US House of Representatives to end this outdated policy,” the Association comments on the situation.
If the Republican bill is not passed by the Senate, it is likely that the CDC will extend the current mandate on May 11, when it expires.
The Biden administration has also been criticized for maintaining a general ban on foreign visitors for longer than in other countries, and the mandatory wearing of masks on an airplane was lifted only when a Florida judge ruled that the “mask regime” was illegal.
President Biden, however, abolished last June the requirement for foreigners to have a negative test for COVID-19. And here there is an illogic: it turns out that a foreign traveler can board a plane to the United States with a certificate of full vaccination in his pocket, and he himself will be infected with COVID-19.
